I got the idea for this comic after sharing my list of Shit to Measure Before Buying, so consider this a chaser to Monday’s comic. ^_^
Thank you to the folks who have kindly donated to my New Computer Fund so far. I’m currently creeping along and this week we’re at 8% of my goal! Wednesday was my actual anniversary, though between my full work week and the SOPA/PIPA protests, it passed by without much fanfare.
Do you like my Cornometer? It’s very scientific.
Have a good weekend!
Curse you, HGTV, and your bad-example-setting!
I’d like to share with you all my list of Shit to Measure Before You Buy It:
- Drapery
- Blinds
- Area rugs
- Shower curtains
- Bike tires
- Inflatable ANYTHING (pools, pool toys, air mattresses, whatevs)
- Memory foam mattress pads
All of the above are things I have to repackage with quite some frequency, and it’s a huge bitch to do so. I beseech you, on behalf of retail redshirts everywhere:
Measure twice, buy once.
Where are all the people getting self-righteous at retailers about how much plastic, cardboard, and styrofoam gets wasted in shipping? My workplace does the best they can, but I guarantee there’s a lot that doesn’t make it to the recycling containers. :(
This month is my webcomicking anniversary! I’m holding a fundraiser for a new computer. If you want to help, check it out here!
HEY CAPTAIN AMERICA SIGNAGE, I’M TALKING ABOUT YOU. It’s impossible for me to share everything wrong with that main Cap image they used in all their retail promotional materials, but I’m shocked at the aliasing and artifacting all over that sign. Get with the program, Warner Brothers, and get your graphic designers good, high-res source images. I was a little baffled at how the image seemed to be entirely stitched together in Photoshop, and not actually shot with Chris Evans.
/pretentious art rant
On the flip side, Gator Golf has really adorable box art, but the actual toy is horrendous. x_x

Happy Halloween!
This takes me back, way back, to my first few months of college, when MTV2 aired reruns of Pimp My Ride for hours on end. I’ve watched more Pimp My Ride than I care to admit, folks.
A swing through the pony aisle is pretty much a guaranteed pick-me-up.
I lettered the GASP! with an actual brush! Baby steps, y’all.
The response to my comic on Monday has been really overwhelming. Thank you, everyone, for your outpourings of support! It was a long time in coming, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready or not, but I’m really glad I did it. ^_^ Y’all are awesome! As always, if you’re curious about body acceptance and want to know more, let me know and I can recommend a few websites and books.
Last but not least, Youmacon may be back on the cards for me. My roommates are going to have an AA table, but one of them might not be able to go, so I might take his place instead! I’ll let you know how it goes either way. Youmacon is November 3-6 in Detroit, MI.
Have a good weekend!
Don’t try this at home, kids.
This comic was part of an attempted 24 Hour Comic I did on April 2nd at Wild Goose Creative. I ended up with 16 pages completely done, which is still a pretty good effort. ^_^
I figure after doing four 24 Hour Comics in 2008, I’ve put in my dues, so I’m not distressed or anything. And now I have a ridiculous buffer for Alex’s Guide that is going to last me quite awhile!
I’m opening preorders on my FIRST T-SHIRT EVER!
These shirts will be available for purchase at my next convention, which is Penguicon! If you’re attending and would like to pick up your shirt in person, please let me know in the order comments when you check out. Preorders will be open through April 13th or so, which I know is a rather short period, but that’s when I need to put in the order for printing!
