I’ll be at the Hilliard Chili Cookoff today from 12pm to 6pm! Come out and support Hilliard’s finest, as well as local comics. :D All the chili you can eat!
Sorry, folks. This week was pretty brutal, so I don’t have a Friday comic for you.
Hopefully a picture of the corn will appease you.
I should probably have changed out of my work clothes.
Have a good weekend! I’ll be at Bodyslam! on Saturday. :D
As you may have noticed, I am quite fat! Isn’t it awesome? Megan over at Meaty Yogurt has proclaimed February 6th-12th as Fat People Art Week!
She’s got a tumblr going for fat people art, which I’ve been submitting to en masse (ha!) but I also thought I’d point ya’ll to my own fat-positive artwork on both my blog and tumblr. (It’s basically the same stuff in both places, fyi.) This week, I’m going to try drawing a picture a day related to Alex’s Guide for FPAW, which serves the additional purpose of getting me to draw art for a new header and banners I need anyway! Megan’s got good timing. ^_^
On a related note, there is a poetry jam I’m attending in Detroit, MI next weekend, which is a fundraiser for Love Your Body Detroit. If you’re in the area and curious to see what this stuff is all about, it’s a good place to be! I’ll be set up as a vendor there.
If you do body-positive art, you should consider submitting it to FPAW! And don’t be afraid to share links in the comments! It’s gonna get fat all up in here. :B
It’s been awful quiet around here the last week or so, and I realized that WordPress sometimes likes to set all posts to “Comments are Closed” when I’m looking away, which I guess explains why there haven’t been any comments on the last few comics!
That, or I’ve been boring you. But I’m hoping it’s the block on comments instead.
Anyways, it’s fixed now, so comment away again!
Hey y’all. Today’s comic has been giving me some technical difficulties, so I apologize for the delay. I want it to look just right, so I figure something late is better than something inferior. It will hopefully be up tomorrow morning! ^_^
Today’s my 6th anniversary of webcomic making. On January 18th, 2005, I started my very first webcomic, the spiritual predecessor to Alex’s Guide, Jigworthy.
Jigworthy checks off several of the Don’ts that are present on most How to Start a Webcomic guides these days:
- I made it about me and my friends.
- The humor was a lot of inside jokes.
- I used fucking Comic Sans for lettering.*
And of course, I’m essentially doing a very similar comic right here and now, albeit without the Comic Sans. ^_^; Today kind of snuck up on me, otherwise I might have had something special planned like last year’s fanart contest.
But I figure, if you want to take a little jaunt down Alex Heberling history on this most joyous of days, head on over to Jigworthy and give it a read.
*I got better about 20 comics in, when I switched to “Dadhand.”
Hey y’all! I hope everyone is having a relatively easy time this holiday season. Here are some updates!
Our fine collective hosts, the Rampage Network, is celebrating it’s 7th anniversary with a really sweet giveaway! You can go here for all the details, but you can win one of two prize packs that includes items from Wacom(!!!), ThinkGeek, and steampunk gear. Pretty sweet.
I’ve officially joined the team of the Webcomic Beacon! I’m currently co-hosting the Newscast and Trope Discussion episodes for the time being, but I’ll keep you guys updated if I branch out into anything else. ^_^ If you’re not listening to the Webcomic Beacon already, then you should be! We broadcast each episode live when we record on Ustream, so you can chat with other listeners while we make each episode.
Chris found a really nice writeup of my work on Comi Girl. That’s pretty cool!
And lastly, I wanted to share that Wednesday the 8th was the 4th anniversary of Chris’ and my first date. Awww. ^_^
Have a good weekend!
Now through December 3rd, everything and anything you buy at my online store ships for free! TO ANYWHERE.
Also, I’m putting my entire stock of comics and books up for sale. I usually save these for conventions, and supplies on these are quite limited, so if you’ve been wanting to get some books, the time is ripe! These come directly from me, and each order will come with a little goody bag as an added bonus. ^_^
